Practice History

Grand Line Dentistry: A Timeline of Growth, Innovation, and Community Care

1950s - 1974
The Foundation
  • 1950s: Dr. Charles Nelson establishes the original practice on Main Street, laying the groundwork for more than six decades of community‑centered dentistry.
  • 1974: The practice relocates to Church Street, where Dr. Nelson continues serving generations of Evansville families.
2006 - 2025
A New Era of Modernization
  • 2006: Dr. Nelson’s path intersects with Dr. Melanie White, who joins the practice with a vision for modern, comfort‑focused care.
  • 2006–2015: Dr. White introduces digital radiography, the Identify 3000 oral cancer screening, nitrous oxide, and other advancements. The office undergoes a full refurbishment, blending modern technology with the warm, welcoming environment patients know today.
2026
Transition to Grand Line Dentistry
September 23, 2026: Maple Grove Family Dental officially transitions to Grand Line Dentistry, marking the beginning of a new chapter while honoring the legacy built over sixty years.

Grand Line Dentistry is excited to bring meaningful updates to the practice while keeping the same friendly, hometown care our patients have always known. We are adding new tools that make visits easier and more comfortable—such as digital scanners that replace traditional impressions, clearer and more detailed imaging for better treatment planning, and improved diagnostic systems that help us catch concerns earlier. These upgrades will allow us to offer more services right here in Evansville, including guided implant placement, esthetic smile makeovers, fabrication of dentures and night guards/splints, expanded oral surgery, and additional cosmetic treatments. Our goal is to blend modern dentistry with the welcoming, personal touch that has always defined this practice, so families can continue receiving high‑quality care close to home.
